review ENGAGEMENTS

Review Services

A review of financial statements is a form of assurance engagement that is less in scope than an audit but still provides confidence in the reliability of financial information. In a review, the CPA performs inquiry and analytical procedures to determine whether they are aware of any material modifications that should be made to the financial statements for them to be in accordance with the applicable financial reporting framework. Unlike an audit, a review does not involve testing internal controls or examining source documents, so it provides limited assurance rather than reasonable assurance. Reviews are often a cost-effective option for organizations that do not require a full audit but still want an independent accountant’s assurance to enhance the credibility of their financial statements for lenders, investors, or stakeholders.
